On September 1st, 2021, hurricane Ida brought historic rainfall to Philadelphia. Homes and businesses across the city were devastated by flooding. In the aftermath, SERVPRO of Society Hill received hundreds of calls for help. Our crews immediately set out to begin disaster recovery efforts.
In Center City- where the Vine Street Expressway resembled a Venice canal- basements beneath major buildings held as much as eight feet of water. Each required several hours’ worth of extraction, followed by drying, cleaning, and disinfection.
The North-West’s Manayunk neighborhood was also hit especially hard as the Schuylkill crested at over 16 feet. After the river receded, streets and structures were left coated in inches of thick mud that took several days of pressure washing to remove.
SERVPRO of Society Hill has been diligently working around the clock for weeks to undo the devastation caused by Ida. We’re proud to take part in repairing our city!
